The IHP’s The Origins of UM-Flint’s Student Support Services Centers project invited participants to learn about and engage in critical discussion about the formal and informal roles student centers play on our campus. This event highlighted the histories and contributions of five student support services centers at UM-Flint: the Center for Gender and Sexuality (CGS), the Student Veterans Resource Center (SVRC), the Intercultural Center (ICC), the Center for Global Engagement (CGE), and the Office of Educational Opportunity Initiatives (EOI).
Presenters explored how these centers were established, the communities they serve, and the ways they have shaped student experiences over time. Attendees also learned about each center’s role in fostering belonging, supporting student success, and building a more inclusive campus environment.
A reception with light fare followed the presentations.
