Join the Phillip J. Bowman Center for Scholarship to Practice and the Inclusive History Project for a special keynote lecture by historian Dr. Hasan Kwame Jeffries as part of the From Reckoning to Repair: The Work of Inclusive History Symposium. Drawing on his scholarship on inclusive history, Dr. Hasan Kwame Jeffries will examine how historical research and historical reckoning can inform and advance practices of repair within universities. His lecture will consider the role of pedagogy and public history in this work, as well as the university as a site where historical knowledge can contribute to institutional reflection, transformation, and repair.
Join the conversation as we consider how history can inform contemporary institutional change. Together, we will explore what it means to move from reckoning with the past toward practices of repair that are grounded in research, responsive to affected communities, and focused on shaping the university’s inclusive future.
The lecture will be followed by a Q&A and reception with light fare. All are welcome.
The From Reckoning to Repair: The Work of Inclusive History Symposium keynote lecture by Dr. Hasan Kwame Jeffries is co-presented by the Inclusive History Project and the Bowman Center for Scholarship to Practice.
Registration is encouraged. This event is free and open to all. It will be live-streamed via Zoom for remote audiences.
